Analyzing the Effects and Importance of Video Game Titles Reviews
As a unique entertainment form and industry on its own, video gaming is pretty much present in the conscience of people?s minds. This is not because hundreds of millions of people around the world played video games at some point in their respective lives, but because the gaming culture has its own infrastructure or system when it comes to being presented to society in general. Under this concept, video gaming or electronic amusement is now widely considered by the global media as a legitimate beat for journalism. Yahoo! News itself has a category of video game coverage under its Technology news section. Video game publishers themselves don?t just advertise their games but also issue press releases that are pretty much accepted by the media. Now that gaming is legitimate in the eyes of journalists and people, it is now standard practice for members of the media (as well as bloggers or independent writers) to publish reviews of new video games normally before they get released. This system is done in pretty much the same fashion as to how and when the media publishes reviews of movies.

Many dedicated game players as well as curious members of the public have read video games reviews through the internet (now the most popular form of information access), TV shows, newspapers, magazines and even in some radio programs. From time to time, when a highly anticipated game is about to get released, millions of gaming enthusiasts flock to the web to anticipate the reviews and read them as soon as they appear. In some ways, game reviews themselves become anticipated media and entertainment events. Dedicated gaming websites like IGN.com, GameSpy.com, GameTrailers.com, GameZone.com and others publish their reviews (often on new games) in video format or in text or even both. Along the way, there are some websites that publish ?retro reviews? ? reviews that focus on past generation games ? and one of them is CGRempire.com. Once the scores of the reviews have come in, reviews and ratings aggregators like GameRankings.com and MetaCritic.com calculate the rough combined values of those scores and present their own review score average each game gets. To date, there is still an ongoing debate as to whether those aggregators are reliable on determining the true value of games that got reviewed.

Some gamers depend on game reviews when they try to determine if the new game they are waiting for is truly worth buying or renting. Considering the fact that a new game released for Xbox 360 and PS3 retails for $60, reading or watching reviews have gotten more crucial than before. Some game reviews can be quite controversial to certain gamers who had been waiting for a certain big game to come out. One of these was the game review TeamXbox.com published covering Final Fantasy XIII, which received a score of 5.0 out of 10 (50%) as well as detailed criticisms. In 1998, GameSpot.com noticeably gave Metal Gear Solid a rating of less than 90% (the score was 8.5 out of 10) while many others gave it much stronger reviews and scores. While players (many of which have seen lots of hype that came with the game?s marketing) may not agree with some game reviews, it is clear that gaming journalists have responsibilities to live up to and do their best to give balanced and fair coverage. In the end, gamers will decide on whether to play a game or not and video games reviews are ultimately opinion pieces that they can rely on or not.

Top Video Games - 2010's Top Five
2010 was an excellent year for video gamers. In this story, we're discussing just the ones that made it to the top five.

Have you seen how many video games were released in 2010? Were you able to get a copy of the long awaited launch of Gran Turismo 5? Did you save enough money for the return of NBA Jam? A number of video games came out this 2010 but only few made it to the top. A lot of video games came out just in time for Christmas. Some people had a hard time getting their copies while some reserved theirs and are enjoying what they got. However, is your chosen video game one of the best? Or were your money and long waiting time just got wasted? Selecting the best 2010 video games is difficult as it can be very subjective. This is probably one of the most difficult jobs of today. Despite that, CNN released the best video games of 2010 and most people seem to agree to it.

Rock Band 3 which can be played in PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360 is the fifth best video game of 2010. Some may think that it is just another Rock Band creating the sound where it is known but true players will see how Rock Band 3 has changed. The music and sound is more realistic not only that, the pro guitar and the keyboard created a great difference from the old Rock Band. Too bad those who don?t have Mass Effect 2 yet have not seen how great the game is. This game is the fourth best game but is only available in Personal Computers and Xbox 360. If you are looking for a great game that has powerful story and has a good futuristic look, Mass Effect 2 is for you. The game perfectly mixes certain genres that most gamers are looking for. Nintendo Wii?s Super Mario Galaxy 2 falls number three on the best 2010 video games. Collecting coins, jumping to get to the next level and swiping power-ups is still an all time favorite. This is the best Super Mario game after Super Mario 64. Those who own PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 should grab their copy of Red Dead Redemption which is the second best video game of 2010. If you have been waiting for a Red Dead Revolver follow-up, your six years worth?s it. This video game has approached the Wild West with a powerful and great passion. It impose social awareness with regards to racism, federal government power, personal freedom and immigration. It is not like the usual video game of the same genre. Finally, CNN?s top video game for 2010 is Heavy Rain which is available only on PlayStation 3. A video game which looks more like produced by great Hollywood producers than Sony, Heavy Rain takes you to a different ride than other video games can?t give you. If you are looking for a game that will bring you a different gaming experience, Heavy Rain is what you?re looking for.

You are losing a lot if you have not experienced playing any of these best 2010 top video games. Among the games released in 2010, critics and millions of players vote these five as the best.
